How It Works
Period underwear, explained
Wild Moon period underwear takes the place of tampons and pads. You wear it on its own, exactly like normal underwear. There is nothing to insert and nothing to stick in place. The underwear itself catches and holds your flow, so on your moon you simply put on a pair and go about your day. Many women are surprised to hear this, so it is worth saying plainly: you do not wear a tampon or a pad with them. The underwear is the protection.
How to wear your Wild Moon
- Start with a clean, dry pair and put them on like any underwear.
- Wear nothing else. No tampon, no pad, no liner.
- Live your day. Work, school, sport, sleep. They move with you.
- When you are ready to change, rinse them in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Wash them and wear them again. Each pair lasts for years.
How they hold your flow and stay fresh
Every pair is built from soft, breathable layers that work together. The layer against your skin pulls moisture away and keeps you feeling dry. Beneath it sits a thirsty core that soaks up your flow and locks it in. The outer layer is leak-proof, so nothing passes through to your clothes.
This is also why they do not smell. Odor happens when blood meets the air. Because your flow is drawn down into the core and sealed away from the air, and because the fabric is breathable and works against odor-causing bacteria, you stay fresh all day. No scent, no damp feeling, no bulky pad shifting around.
Finding your flow and your rhythm
Wild Moon comes in three levels of protection, the same way pads and tampons do.
- ☽ Light holds about 18 ml, roughly 2 tampons or 1 pad.
- ☽ Medium holds about 36 ml, roughly 3 tampons or 1.5 pads.
- ☽ Heavy holds about 45 ml, roughly 5 tampons or 2.5 pads.
Here is the part that takes a little time to learn. Every body is different. Your flow is your own, and it changes from one day to the next. How long a single pair lasts will be different for you than for anyone else, and that is completely normal. One woman may wear a Heavy pair comfortably from morning to night. Another may prefer to change after a few hours on her heaviest day. Start by changing when you would normally swap a pad, then learn your own rhythm. When you begin to feel wet or full, it is simply time to change into a fresh pair.
Many women keep a few pairs on hand and match the level to the day. Heavy for the first day or two and for overnight, Medium through the middle of your moon, and Light for the final days or for light spotting.
Why women are making the switch
Tampons and pads are made to be used once and thrown away, month after month, year after year. Wild Moon is different.
- ☽ Nothing goes inside your body. No insertion, no dryness, no string.
- ☽ One pair replaces your tampon or pad and is worn on its own.
- ☽ Reusable for years, so you buy less and throw away less.
- ☽ Made from soft, breathable fabrics, including organic cotton and organic bamboo.
- ☽ PFAS-free and third-party tested, so you know what is against your skin.
- ☽ Comfortable enough that you forget you are wearing them.
For many women it simply feels easier. You get dressed in the morning and you are protected. There is nothing to carry, nothing to change in a public restroom, and nothing to run out of at the worst moment.
New to period underwear?
If this is your first pair, give yourself a cycle or two to get comfortable. On your first day you can wear a pad as backup, or reach for a Heavy pair, until you trust how they feel. Most women find their confidence quickly and never look back. Whether you are a young girl getting ready for your first moon, a mom helping your daughter, or someone who has used tampons and pads for decades, the idea is the same. Put them on, and let them do the work.
